We had a great time in Austin for the Fall National College Media Convention, hosted by College Media Advisers and the Associated Collegiate Press. This was a tremendous opportunity to strengthen our ties to the college media community while building new ones. All told, we spoke with hundreds of student editors and advisers, getting valuable feedback while also offering advice on digital content and giving product demos and trainings.

If you were in Austin, we hope you had the chance to speak with our team. We were also joined by Tarrah Curtis, a publicist with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, who was on-hand to promote mtvU's Red Carpet Correspondent partnership with the Oscars. College Media Network is thrilled to give the opportunity, for the second year, for college journalists to get press passes and travel for Hollywood's biggest night. Get more on that here.

Everything's bigger in Texas, but we ran out of large t-shirts quickly – this was the fifth conference this year we've attended where we gave out our iconic "College Newspaper" t-shirts. Students also enjoyed getting their sugar rushes from our candy dispensers.

One of the definite highlights of the conference for us was "First Night," sponsored by College Media Network and supported by CBI. We were pleased to offer free music on two different stages for 3+ hours at the Mohawk in Austin. CMN sponsored both concerts, providing advisers with free food and free alcohol. Additionally, we enjoyed having a bunch of our partners upstairs in the Green Room for our partner reception, with free food and alcohol.

Big thanks to our friends at CBI, as well as the staff of the Mohawk and all the bands we worked with to put on such a great event.

Planning has already begun for our spring conferences – we hope to see you there!
