When uploading into the Video element you should make sure that you are uploading the video as a Flash Video File (.flv) and that the video is no more than 10MB.

You can place videos on any page by using the elements but you should also create an "article" with a video element inside. The reasoning behind this is to have your videos searchable. A user will not be able to search for the video just based on the file name of the flv.

Another best practice with the videos is to make sure to keep a video section on your page. You should not have too many videos playable on the front page of your site as this will not require the reader to click through your site and gain those extra page views.

If you would like to tease a video in an article but also use a photo with the article on your home or section pages you can. You would upload this video and image to the article and then follow the directions in this blog post to hide the image.
